The Julmat Lammit is Natural Reserve in central Finland close to Saarijärvi. What you can find in the Julmat Lammit are ponds as the name of the reserve says in Finnish. There are three ponds which are surrounded by untouched nature. It has been one of my favorite places I visited in Finland so far.

The reserve is rather small. You should be able to hike along the track which goes around the three ponds in 2-3 hours. My hike was bit longer almost double time because of taking photographs. The hiking trail starts just next to the parking on road no. 13  from Saarijärvi to direction of Kyyjärvi. The stop looks like a small parking place offering long distance driver to stop and have a short rest. So, be sure not to miss the sign. The first pond is not far from the stop itself. I would say just around 400m. Indeed, I would recommend to anyone who happens to be traveling on road no. 13 to stop there for 15 min and have refreshing walk. The hiking trail is quite easy terrain. You would be fine with any shoes unless you wear high heels

If you plan to hiki all around the ponds then you may consider to take a snack or even sausages (the Finnish most favorite food ). There is a fire place at the third (last) pond where you can make a BBQ.
